Logo, Brand Suite & UX/UI Design
Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission
A new identity and website for a Government of Alberta Crown Corporation.
Role: Lead Designer
Agency: Box Clever
Client: Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission (APMC)
The Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission (APMC) is a Government of Alberta Crown corporation operating as the commercial agent of the Government of Alberta in the oil and gas sector. Their mission is to maximize the market value of Alberta's petroleum resources while marketing royalty in kind petroleum resources, developing business opportunities, and executing petroleum ventures.
Although APMC has been around since 1974, they had not had their own brand identity, until now.
As lead designer, my goal was to create their logo and brand identity, and apply the established branding to a website.
Brand Development
The Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission (APMC) project began with developing the organization’s first-ever visual identity. The identity was focused on communicating a clean, modern, and professional presence to reinforce APMC’s authority within the petroleum sector.
The logo and brand utilized bold typography, and simple geometric elements to reflect a strong and professional presence that accurately represents APMC’s visual goals.
Two variations of the logo were created to give APMC the flexibility they required for future application. A condensed APMC version, and an expanded version featuring the full Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission name.
This identity was expanded across a range of assets creating a full brand suite for the organization. Consistency and professionalism was ensured across every touchpoint through both print and digital materials. Through this, we were able to enhance APMC’s visibility and recognition among stakeholders, and the public.
Once the branding was established, I designed a wide variety of creative to supply APMC with a full brand suite to cover all their needs.
Items created include:
Custom Word and PowerPoint Templates
Letterhead
Envelope
Business Cards
Brand Guidelines
Folder
And more
UX/UI Design
Along with leading the branding, I was also the lead UX/UI Designer on the project. My goal was to craft a digital experience that reflected the organization’s authority and expertise. The website was designed to compliment the new brand with a visual focus on remaining simple, purposeful, and user-friendly.
The goals for the website centered around placing emphasis on clarity, ease of navigation, and content accessibility.
Key Points:
To streamline the user journey, I layed out a homepage with clickable tiles and iconography, allowing visitors to quickly access key information about APMC’s mandate, priorities, and projects.
Additionally on the homepage, I designed a project map of Alberta to visually showcase major initiatives and display important statistics, making the Commission’s provincial impact both clear and engaging.
One of the key interactive elements I created was a scrollable timeline that showcases APMC’s history from 1974 to present. It was designed with expandable entries and sticky navigation to encourage exploration by the user. View Interactive Timeline

Through the process of working with APMC, a professional visual identity and a modern digital experience was created. The new website and brand elevates the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission’s presence as a reliable and authoritative presence in the petroleum sector.
